Museum is Opening Saturday, May 18th

First, I would like to acknowledge and thank our wonderful group of volunteers – Teri and Jim Burton and Shannon McNamarra for their help in getting organized so we could be ready to open.  We have been undergoing Phase One of renovations over the winter – we now have fully accessible washroom facilities and emergency exit ramps/rails. As with any renovation, it meant a lot of disruption, so getting ready to open for the season meant relocating items and cleaning!  Your help is greatly appreciated.

We have another New Exhibit!  Her Story – The Stories She Tells is a new exhibit that is dedicated to the women of our community – past and present.  It will incorporate some unique  features and technology.  This exhibit will include a special Memory Book where you will be able to make a dedication – stay tuned – more information to follow! And there are more special events that I know you will not want to miss.

We are so fortunate this year to have more staff joining us! Thanks to the Metis Nation of Ontario, to the YES program and to Canada Youth Summer Jobs!

We have some special surprises in store as part of our 40th anniversary summer, so follow us on FB (20+) Facebook

Thank you, merci, meegwetch, marsi

Mattawa Museum is the Recipient of an Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant

Hello everyone

We have some very exciting news to share! As you will read from the Press Release from Mr. Fedeli’s office, the Mattawa Museum is the recipient of an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant. It is always exciting when you receive grants, as nothing is ever guaranteed, but this one, in particular, is such wonderful news.  It is an Accessibility Grant!  Finally, our Museum – all three levels, including washroom facilities will be accessible to everyone!

Nothing could be more appreciated.

Renovations will take place over the winter months so we will be ready to welcome you when we open our 2024 Season. This will be a special year as we celebrate our 40th anniversary and will open with another brand-new, very special exhibit dedicated to the women of our community – past and present.

Please follow us on this journey! thank you, meegwetch, merci, marsi
