Mattawa and District Historical Society

The Mattawa and District Historical Society is a volunteer, non-profit organization that was established in 1976.

The main mission of the Mattawa and District Historical Society is the preservation of and the education about local history. As such, this includes the organization, maintenance, preservation and presentation of valuable documentation, art and artifacts with local and surrounding districts.

The Society members furnish and operate the Mattawa Museum, create and maintain the exhibits, and offer tours of the Mattawa Museum.

Additionally, the Society hosts special events focusing on local historical heritage, cultural customs and music on a regular basis in the beautiful outdoor venue of Explorer’s Point where the Mattawa Museum is located.

The Mattawa and District Historical Society meets once per month. Meetings are held at the Mattawa Museum. Voting members are invited to attend the meetings. The Society invites anyone that may be interested in being part of the board or a voting member of the Society to come forward.
