The Chip Stand

Turcotte Family Business Since 1944

A small-town business that has come to be a large icon on a Main Street in a small Northern Ontario town.

1st Generation …

The Chip Stand, as we all fondly know it, was started 75 years ago by Lavina and Maurice Turcotte.  While we all know and love this local eatery , food trucks in general, chip stands in particular, are taken quite for granted in our Province and Country these days.

But 75 years ago when the Turcottes had dragged an old trailer home to Mattawa and announced they were going to start a business where you cooked the french fries in a trailer and sold them to people …

Well ??? You can just imagine the comments. Regardless, they started their business.

2nd Generation …

Celine

In time, it was taken over by son Danny and his wife Celine, along with Danny Jr.

3rd Generation …

In April 2015, Danny Jr. and his wife Tamra, with their son Dali, officially became third generation for this family owned and operated business.
